The following English-German and German-English word game contains the basic colors. This online game will help you learn the name of the colors in German and translate the colors in German from and to English. This language color test consists of several levels of increasing difficulty.


You can listen to the pronunciation for each German color by clicking on the sound icon next to each answer on the first game level.

The colors practiced are: white, black, gray, blue, red, green, yellow, pink, brown, orange, purple.

1. Choose color (German to English)

Multiple choiceMultiple choice - The level consists of 11 questions (all of which have pictures), but a maximum of 10 questions are practiced per game round. For each question, the player is given three possible answers. Only one of these is correct. It is up to the player to choose the correct alternative. The student has 3 hearts (extra lives) that keep the game round going. There is no time limit. When the student has selected all the correct answers, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then the correct answers will be displayed - and then try to complete the level again.

2. Write color (German to English)

The words to be found are placed on the board as readable words and they are listed in plain text next to the board. If the student manages to find all the words, the game is won. There is no time limit. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then the correct words will be displayed - and then try to complete the level again.

6. Color match pairs

MemoryMemory - The level consists of 11 pairs (consisting of words paired with pictures), but a maximum of 10 pair are practiced per game round. The student's task is to find two cards that match. If two matching cards are found, they are removed from the board. The game is finished when all 10 pairs of cards have been found and the memory has no cards left. There is no time limit. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then it will show which pairs of cards match - and then try to complete the level again.

The student has 3 attempts at each picture question. If the student answers a task incorrectly, the game round can be continued, but the round is marked as not completed. There is no time limit. When the student has found all the correct picture markings, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then all the correct dots in the image will be displayed - and then try to complete the level again.

10. Color map game (30 s, no misses)

Image markupsImage markups - The level consists of 11 image markup questions, but a maximum of 10 image markup questions are practiced per game round. Each question should be answered by selecting the correct marker in the image. Only one of the markers is correct. It is for you to find the right dot in the picture. The student has only one attempt at each picture question. If the student answers a task incorrectly, the game round can be continued, but the round is marked as not completed. The time limit to complete the game level is 30 seconds (30 seconds). When the student has found all the correct picture markings, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then all the correct dots in the image will be displayed - and then try to complete the level again.

Calculation of knowledge points and medals

Each completed game level in Colors in German gives 1 knowledge points. You can collect a maximum of 10 knowledge points by completing all 10 levels.
In the game Colors in German, you can earn a total of 30 medals. Medals are awarded based on how many times you have completed a level:
  • Bronze medal: after completing 2 rounds.
  • Silver medal: after completing 5 rounds.
  • Gold medal: after completing 10 rounds.
Knowledge points are only awarded for levels you have not completed before, meaning those that do not yet have checked green circles. Even after completing a level and earning both knowledge points and medals, you can continue practicing it. However, this will not grant any additional knowledge points or medals.

A fun game, however, level 4 is impossible to pass for me (I can not type 'German letters'). Please fix this issue
